The following is a brief account of how we recently helped a York client in the education sector who was in dire straits after a large part of their buildings were struck by a freak localised flood:

  • 9.00am – The insured puts in a call to advise us of the occurrence and to request our urgent assistance

  • The handler here reports to insurers and confirms what arrangements need to be made

  • 12.00pm – A major loss adjuster is appointed and we liaise with them, the client and insurers to go out that same day

  • 3.00pm – All involved parties meet on site with the client, including: loss adjuster, chartered surveyor and vitally, a restoration company

  • 5.00pm – An agreement has already been brokered whereby the restoration company can begin cleaning and drying the very next day; the client has been recommended two local consulting firms to begin scheduling repairs and the loss adjuster is in a position to report back to insurers recommending works proceed immediately

Needless to say, this is a typical example of how we like to act fast and effectively at Ford’s. However, the client in this case was more than grateful for the kick start that their claim received, which was vital on this occasion to the uninterrupted education of the pupils who attend the institution.
